While he was born in Illinois, Fr. Jim considers himself a Wisconsinite. He is a graduate of St. Dominic’s Catholic grade school in Brookfield, Marquette University High School and Marquette University. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1979, and was ordained a priest in 1992. After ordination, he served for a year as associate pastor of St. Patrick’s parish in Milwaukee, and as campus minister at Marquette University. He earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the New School for Social Research in New York City in 2003. He joined the philosophy faculty at Marquette University in 2002. He served as Rector/Superior of the Marquette University Jesuit community from 2005-2011, and as president of Nativity Jesuit Middle School in Milwaukee from 2011-2013. He had been associate pastor of Gesu Parish starting in August of 2015.
During his many years of service in Milwaukee, he has assisted with weekend Masses and other parish activities, at various parishes in the area. Fr. Jim greatly enjoys parish and sacramental ministry and is pleased to serve as shepherd of the flock at Gesu. He is also familiar with local diocesan parishes and pastors and is well known in the Milwaukee area.
