As Parish Nurse, Trameka works to promote and maintain wellness among Gesu parishioners by integrating faith and health. She serves as a health counselor and health educator for the parish; coordinates and educates volunteers in the parish’s Health Ministry Program; facilitates the development and functioning of support groups; provides client advocacy support to parishioners; serves as a referral source and liaison to community resources; promotes the ongoing development of an inclusive community; and provides a holistic approach to wellness by addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of parishioners and others who are served.
Trameka was born and raised in the City of Milwaukee, and currently resides in Milwaukee County with her husband Jerome, their son Jerome III, and daughter Briel. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Alverno College, an all-women’s Roman Catholic institution, and is in pursuit of a graduate degree in Community Public Health Nursing at UW-Milwaukee. She has worked in healthcare for 14 years, seven of them as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing background includes working in a clinical setting for three years, and within community and public health settings serving individuals, families and the greater community for the last four years. Her experience includes working for Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Children’s Wisconsin, and the City of Milwaukee Health Department.
Trameka is passionate about serving individuals, families, and the greater community, and helping people to live well in spirit, mind and body, and her spiritual journey has had a major influence on her practice as a nurse. She has always had a yearning to look deep within and beyond the physical parameters of health to see and serve the whole person. This yearning to serve the whole person lead Trameka to further her training, and she has completed training as a wellness circle facilitator, nurse coach, faith community nurse, and is a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association. She is excited and grateful to be with Gesu Parish, and serving in a role that allows her to serve others holistically.
