Common Ground

Gesu is founding member of Common Ground, a broad-based
organization in Southeast Wisconsin, made up of congregations and
religious groups affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, Lutheran
Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), Presbyterian, Episcopal and United Church
of Christ (UCC), and also certain foundations, individuals and unions.
Common Ground
exists to address Greater
Milwaukee's critical social issues in an effective,
non-partisan way and to achieve positive changes in our community.
Housing Trust Funds
Gesu endorses the Milwaukee Housing Trust Fund and is a member of the
Milwaukee Housing Trust Fund
Coalition. Founded in May 2004, this coalition grew
out of an increasing need in Milwaukee for decent, accessible,
affordable housing. With the decline in federal dollars and the
increased poverty rate in Milwaukee, creating a local fund to support
affordable housing is a solution backed by many. This diverse coalition
has grown to include over 130 endorsers.
Gesu parishioners are also active in the Waukesha County Housing Trust
Fund Coalition.
MICAH
Gesu Parish is a
member of MICAH, Milwaukee lnnercity Congregations Allied for Hope.
This church-based organization is grounded in the
principles of empowerment through the Gospel, education, advocacy and
action. The Gesu MICAH Core Team leads parish actions in this
interfaith, multi-racial organization to empower people to achieve
structural change for justice and peace in the innercity.
