Visits to Haiti are planned twice a year, generally for a brief short visit to the parish for 4-5 days and for a longer eight (8) day visit usually in May. The short visit is primarily for those returning to Haiti, who have experienced an immersion visit. The immersion visits include time in Port-au-Prince, staying at Norwich Mission House. During this time, missioners have the chance to visit cultural sites, several of the ministries sponsored by Norwich Mission House, meet with missionaries and others involved in serving the poor of Haiti to get a more in-depth understanding of the current situation in Haiti. Three – four days of each visit are spent at St. Jude Parish in Mon Opital, living in the rectory, visiting with the people of the parish, and helping to deepen the relationship between Gesu and St. Jude.
Would you like to join an immersion mission team? Gesu visits are not service/work missions. They are cultural immersion visits in Port-au-Prince the capital and at our twin parish with Pastor Bréné and St. Jude parishioners, the school children and the nurse and nurse educator at the clinic. The exact visit dates for July 2011-June 2012 have not yet been scheduled.
