The Liturgy Committee is devoted to nourishing and providing direction
for
the liturgical aspects of parish life. The committee seeks to
insure that parishioners are provided with opportunities to
deepen
their faith through a variety of prayer experiences and liturgical
celebrations.
Members of the committee listen to the
needs and concerns of the community in discerning choices that will
promote "full and active participation" of the community in our
liturgy. Members
welcome the gifts of the community and seek to promote ways in which
each member of the assembly can share his or her gifts in the service
of
others.
Liturgy with Children and Youth Subcommittee
This ministry began to develop when parents and other
parishioners
raised the issue of children and the liturgy. Here at Gesu, the gifts
of the children are integrated into the liturgy alongside other
ministers of the parish. The children and youth who serve as liturgical
ministers participate in workshops that underline the
catechetical and
liturgical elements of a particular season.
Ministerial Formation Subcommittee
This subcommittee exists to identify, call forth, develop and support
the gifts of individuals to serve the community within the context of
liturgy. They prayerfully respond to formational needs as they arise.
Activities include: review of the liturgical practices of the
parish; recruitment and preparation of new liturgical
ministers; continuing formation opportunities for seasoned
ministers; and sponsorship of an annual enrichment day for all
liturgical ministers.
Ritual Environment Subcommittee
This subcommittee prepares the church environment for worship based on
the feasts and seasons of the liturgical
calendar. They consider how the appearance of the place where we pray
affects how we pray.
Seasonal Preparations Subcommittee
Teams of parishioners are formed who pray over the texts of the Church;
scripture readings, prayers and guidelines of each season, and prepare
the liturgies of a particular season: Advent, Christmas,
Ordinary Time, Lent, Triduum-Easter.
